Will 2011 be a good film year?

I'm one of those people who like lists, so scrolling through other people's Best Films of 2010 compilations has been my favorite end-of the-year passtime. Olli Sulopuisto has put together a list containing top picks from a selection of Finnish film bloggers (including myself), which features some interesting choices. Toy Story 3 was mentioned by most - not surprisingly, since it's an excellent film.

My personal Top 5 (best / most interesting films of 2010) included Rare Exports, Steam of Life (Miesten vuoro), The Painting Sellers (Taulukauppiaat), Toy Story 3 and Rubber. It's always hard to pick only a few, but those five movies all left me with something special. It was a very good year for Finnish cinema, lots of interesting stuff happened. Reindeerspotting I haven't seen yet, but I'm definitely going to. Many other movies of 2010 I have yet to see as well, such as The Social Network, Enter the Void, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Four Lions, A Prophet + many more... Fortunately I got a bunch of movie passes for Christmas!

What about next year? I'm already waiting to see at least The Rum Diary, Rango, Battle Los Angeles, Paul, Sucker Punch, Super 8, Thor, The Green Hornet, Captain America and Cowboys and Aliens. I'm also looking forward to seeing great documentaries, as Docpoint is coming up in January. What do you want to see in 2011?

Sucker Punch (March 2011): Looks pretty spectacular and crazy.

Rango (March 2011): Love that fear-and-loathing-in-las-vegas-style shirt on the lizzard...

Thor (May 2011): I generally look forward to seeing any Marvel movie.
